OCA Announces Women’s Coaching Initiative

As part of National Coaches Week, the Ontario Cycling Association is
proud to announce the launch of several initiatives focused on
increasing female cycling coaches in Ontario. These initiatives are
supported through Quest for Gold funding administered by the Coaching
Association of Ontario.

* SUBSIDIES FOR COMPLETION OF NCCP COURSES: Female coaches will be
eligible to apply for up to 70% subsidy for completion of courses
leading to Introduction to Competition certification
* COACH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT: Female coaches may apply for
support to assist with travel and other expense to attend a camp or
competition under the mentorship of a Team Ontario, Team Canada, or
other high level coach
* WOMEN’S COACHING CONFERENCE: The OCA is excited to announce the
hosting of the Women’s Coaching Conference on December 9, 2018 at the
Mattamy National Cycling Centre. This one-day conference will include a
series of presenters covering topics applicable to today’s cycling
athletes. Workshops will be delivered both in-class and through
interactives activities.

TT Results / Age Categories

The TT Results now show position within age category.
I have specified age categories in 10 year increments: 20-29, 30-39…70-79. These can easily be changed or extended. Please let me know if there’s a convention for the younger riders.

I took birth dates from this year’s CCNBikes’ registrations and attempted to match names on the results database. Some failed (Jenn vs Jennifer, Alan vs Woody, etc.). But if you registered this year and if you have ever competed, you should get an age category position.

If your birthday isn’t on the database or if your age on race day falls outside of the above range I show {M|F}_Open.

Over time I’ll take registrations from other years to add more birth dates.

Emails / Women’s Rides

The weekly emails announcing the Tuesday rides are now only going out to those who specified interest in  the Women’s Rides.
If you are not receiving them and wish to, enter your email address in the Subscribe form on the top right of any club web site page. Assuming you are already subscribed, a link like this will appear:-

Click the link and follow the instructions

If you are receiving them and don’t wish to, use the update subscription preferences link which is in the footer of every club email. Un-check “Women’s Rides” under the list of interests.

Note: Although there is a similar interest for Time Trials, we are not currently using that. TT results go out to every one who is subscribed. The weekly emails announcing the Wednesday rides are also not affected.
